Keynote Speaker: Lon Safko
Lon Safko is a remarkably creative person. He is the creator of the “First Computer To Save A Human Life”. That computer, along with 17 other inventions and more than 30,000 of Lon‘s papers, are in the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. He has created numerous hardware and software solutions for the physically challenged, developed the first CAD software for civil engineers, designed the archetypes for the Apple Newton & Microsoft’s Bob Operating Systems. He is also responsible for those handy little Tool-Tips help-balloon pop-ups!
Has been recognized for his creativity with such prestigious awards as; The Westinghouse’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Arizona Innovation Network’s Innovator of the Year, The Arizona Software Association’s Entrepreneur of the Year, twice nominated for the Ernst & Young / Inc. Janet Fouts is the Author of “Social Media for Success!: Practical advice and real world examples for social media engagement“, a 15-year veteran of social media and online marketing, Co-Founder of one of the first on-line communities for the restaurant industry in 1996, Founder of Tatu Digital Media, an award-winning web design and strategy firm, and Lead Coach of “The Social Media Coaching Center”. Janet is also a Blogger for the Open Wine Consortium, a global wine industry association and the world’s premier online wine business network and was a Speaker at the 2009 Wine Blogger’s Conference.
“Social Media Success!”, published in November 2009, provides real world examples and practical techniques that are applicable to all types of businesses from entrepreneurs and start-ups to small businesses and corporations.

Joey Shepp is an Internet entrepreneur, professional speaker, and sustainability consultant. He is founder and CEO of Earthsite, a New Media Agency for Sustainable Brands. His current clients include Real Goods Solar Inc., SF Department of the Environment, The Green Festival, Fetzer Wine, Dominican University of California, and The Green MBA. Mr. Shepp is also the founder of GreenMaven.com, the world’s largest Green Search Engine and OpenBrands.org, a social brand-monitoring tool.
Joey holds a degree in Ecological Design from UC Santa Cruz, an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise from Dominican University of CA and is also a black belt in Aikido. He lives and works in the North Bay Area, California.
Keynote Speaker: Roohi Moolla
Roohi Moolla has over 28 years of experience spanning careers in Architecture and Information Technology. While practicing architecture, Ms. Moolla was involved in a number of large-scale residential and commercial ventures in Toronto, Canada. In the past 16 years, Ms. Moolla has successfully designed, developed and implemented a large number of commercial website and e-commerce solutions for a variety of industries including telecommunications, social networking, construction, and finance as well as organizations in the private and public sector. Ms. Moolla has been involved with a number of software startups, including the dating site that became Match.com, a proprietary Bid/RFP procurement and subscription system (now publicly traded as Onvia) and was Chief Product Architect at BondDesk Syndicate, a Syndicate Municipal Bond Trading platform. She is currently the Founder and CEO of Neighborhoodnow.com, an online social network connecting people and communities through online event calendars, with over 2 million page views a month, and the founder of SocialBiz 2010, the first major Social Media Conference event to be held in Northern California.
Ms. Moolla holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arizona, and is a Microsoft Certified Professional.

Eric Burns
Eric Burns has 18 years of technology experience as an Information Technology Engineer with a diverse range of businesses, including Next Level Communications, Cerent, Cisco and Red Condor. Eric has received specialized IT training from HP, Sun Microsystems and Cisco Systems, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a concentration in Management Information Systems from Sonoma State University and is completing a Masters in Information Systems in 2010 with an emphasis in Internet Security from the University of San Francisco. He has helped firms like Dell find and fix security issues in their websites. In the last two years he has founded two companies, including a social network for Automotive and Motorcycle enthusiasts and a service to help secure online banking. When not spending time with his family or coding, Eric races on the Salt Flats of Bonneville and the Dry Lakes of El Mirage, where he holds world land speed records.
Karen Clark
Karen Clark is a popular speaker and trainer who shares her 12 years of experience in online marketing through fun and dynamic presentations locally and on the Internet. As the CEO of MyBusinessPresence.com, a Rohnert Park company specializing in online presence training and implementation for entrepreneurs, Karen shows business owners how to attract new business, foster loyalty by serving, and stay true to their principles and personal business while building an ethical online presence. Karen is the organizer of the North Bay Webify Your Business Club, and has been the President of the Sonoma/Marin Direct Selling Women’s Alliance for over 3 years. Karen is the co-author of two books, Direct Selling Power (March 2010) and the upcoming Incredible Business (September 2010). Karen has been featured in the DSWA’s Mentored by the Masters CD series, “Step Into Success” and “Home Business Connection” magazines, and Top Sellers Tell, a book highlighting successful home-based entrepreneurs. Barry Chertov
Barry Chertov is the Founder and Moderator of the North Bay’s own WaccoBB.net, a public forum and bulletin board for the progressive community with over 10,000 registered members. Starting with his participation on pre-internet Comupserve forums and his work with Dale Doherty on a prototype of a community portal (Sebweb) in the early days of the Internet, Barry has been fascinated with how online community can augment and enhance real community. Barry holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Carnegie-Mellon University in Economics and a MBA from Golden Gate University. He has served on the Sebastopol Planning Commission, the Sebastopol General Plan Advisory and produced several community Grateful Dead Dances in the 1990s.
Julia Dvorin
Julia Dvorin owns Archer Web Solutions, a Marin-based company that helps businesses and non-profits “hit the target” through customized, creative design, development and marketing strategies. She also founded the Marin Web Guild, a working cooperative of North Bay web professionals who collaborate to provide effective online communication and marketing solutions in a rapidly changing business landscape. Julia has an MA in Sociology and 10 years experience with consumer product licensing and branding, working with such brands as Star Wars, Yahoo! and Chronicle Books. She brings a creative, nuanced understanding of brand identity and consumer behavior to each individual project and helps clients develop the exact right message(s) for every brand, audience and market. In addition to presenting to local groups on social media and online tools for business, Julia also has a background in Drama and has developed and taught college-level courses in Sociology.
Adam Helweh
Adam Helweh is the founder of Secret Sushi Creative, a digital design, new media marketing and Social Media Consulting Agency. Utilizing over 12 years of experience on the web, he and his team work with businesses and non-profits to develop an effective online presence and a better understanding of how to use social media as a marketing tool. He frequently hosts Social Media workshops and speaks on Social Media topics. When not working with business owners, Adam is bringing them together by hosting his aptly named “Secret Sushi Social” events as well as his “Coffee & Conversation” and his recent “Taiko Tweet Up” events, all of which use Social Media to attract attendees who enjoy unique, face-to-face networking experiences around the Silicon Valley.
Rebecca Orlov
Rebecca Orlov is a producer, writer and online brand consultant. She has worked in advertising for the last 12 years as broadcast producer, managing tv and digital campaigns for many Fortune 500 brands. Rebecca is a long time design blogger and writer, contributing daily to popular home network, Apartment Therapy, editing her shelter blog, loving. living. small. and writing for Williams–Sonoma’s new Designer Trade website. Rebecca co-founded Blog Out Loud in June 2009, a free resource that inspires and encourages creative brands to join the blogosphere and connect to community through social media. In March 2010, Rebecca opened the digital doors to Sweetline Agency, an online project management company that works with lifestyle brands to develop and enhance their full online presence as well as guiding site and blog builds.
Anton Prakash
Mr. Prakash is the founder of SocialNetGate (www.socialnetgate.com). He also runs EphronTech LLC, a Technology and Process Outsourcing Services company. He is a serial web entrepreneur, having founded internet start up companies such as Docuvana (www.docuvana.com) and involved with startups such as FunkMachine (www.funkmachine.com) and Life360 (www.life360.com). Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Prakash has worked with Fortune 500 companies such as General Electric and Pacific Gas & Electric as well as dot com startups leading product management and infrastructure planning initiatives for over 15 years.
Shari Weiss
Shari Weiss is a writer, teacher, editor, and marketing consultant who is working full-time on All Things Social Media. With a Bachelors’ Degree in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Master’s Degree in Public Relations from Kent State, Shari has taught college courses in journalism, marketing and English for 20 years. In addition, she has edited an array of publications from Harcourt Brace Jovanovich trade magazines to a city-wide student newspaper. She has also written feature stories for business clients from the San Jose Mercury News to Nation’s Restaurant News to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club. Currently she is the Chief Blogger for ShariSaxIsOutThere, in which she writes articles on a variety of social media categories, including How-To Lessons for social media beginners; Interviews with industry professionals; reports on meeting presentations; and strategies for social media marketing. She is also the Community Manager for Performance Social Media and leads workshops for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and university students.
Jason Stewart
Jason Stewart has more than 12 years of experience as a “marketing technologist,” specializing in using online tools to both execute and measure the success of marketing campaigns and demand generation programs. A recognized thought leader in the B2B lead generation and management space, Jason founded and leads Salesforce.com’s San Francisco user group and is the chief blogger for Demandblog: Best Practices in B2B Demand Generation. With experience in telesales, demand generation, lead management and marketing operations for a variety of North Bay businesses including Maxager Technology, MarketLive, and Inference Corporation, Jason now leads online marketing for San Francisco marketing solutions provider Demandbase, Inc.. Jason earned his BA in English from Rutgers University.
Ryan Perry
The owner of Simple Biz Support in Santa Rosa, Ryan Perry is an entrepreneur on the cusp of the new 21st Century marketing model for businesses - an expert in the exploding field of Search Engine Optimization. Ryan’s varied experience in sales, management and ownership of several small businesses in Santa Rosa, California, have afforded him a wide education in all avenues of marketing techniques. With the advent of the Internet, Ryan learned how to bridge conventional marketing techniques from his experience as a small business owner to fit the needs of the Web, and more specifically Google. Ryan gained a solid foundation in computers and printers early in his career, eventually purchasing the business Encore Ribbon in Santa Rosa in 2002, then The Print Doctor in 2003, a computer printer retailer business which he owned until 2008. Ryan’s solid technical expertise has proven invaluable to him today enhancing his knowledge and capabilities for marketing on the Web.
